What is climate change?
Climate change is the idea that the earth’s climate is changing due to a change in temperature.
How does climate change affect antarctica?
Some effects that climate change has on Antarctica are the ice melting and loss of habitat. Some animals living in Antarctica rely on ice, and species that grow/ live in the colder and icier regions of Antarctica to feed on. If the water around Antarctica heats up because of the warmer temperatures
it may make it harder for species that have developed in Antarctica to keep living there.
it may make it harder for species that have developed in Antarctica to keep living there.
What impact does climate change have to the species?
An affect that climate change has on species is that if forces some birds, plants and mammals to complete their cycle faster than normal. Some birds are laying eggs early, plants are blooming early, and mammals are coming out from hibernation earlier than usual.
What is the potential impact of the ice melting on the rest of the world?
If the ice that makes up the outer regions of Antarctica melts, the sea levels will rapidly rise and may cause floods and/or other life threatening natural disasters. The coast lines of many countries will be drowned. Due to this some populations will struggle because of the cramped spaces, after losing the coastal land.
What recomendations could you make in response to climate change?
Some recommendations commonly made to help prevent climate change are things like: riding a bike rather than always driving, use more renewable energy, such as solar panels, hydroelectricity, and wind turbines etc. because most renewable energy sources are clean for the environment they don’t produce as much greenhouse gasses as other electricity options.
