Why are Scientists so interested in Antarctica?
Scientists are interested in researching Antarctica because it is an untouched continent where there is no permanent human settlement. It is no wonder people are so curious when it comes to the great white continent because it is the largest, driest, coldest, most unique and untouched place on earth. It draws many types of scientists because it contains many different fields….
Geologists- there are links in Antarctica between present day and Gondwana Land. It is proven that Antarctica had been the centre of this massive continent that had split apart over 100 million years ago, therefore may hold evidence of the world’s history.
Meteorology- It hasn’t rained in Antarctica for over 2 million years. But there are frozen bodies of water which suggest through that it had rained, with technology we can determine that there are many layers to these lakes in which the water has not been mixed by wind or weather.

Scientific research projects and findings:
A project in Antarctica at the moment are“Aliens in Antarctica”. The project focuses on unwanted species coming into Antarctica through the clothing, shoes and hand luggage of
scientists and tourists.
Ice cube neutrino telescope project. Looking at modules through a large telescope to discover the
largest energy cosmic rays.
U.S. ice drilling project- drilling large holes into the earth’s surface through to the icy waters

What I would I reccomend for future scientific research in Antarctica:
I would suggest that the research be Mainly focused on Climate Change/Global Warming and preservation of the native species of antarctica.
Climate Change/Global Warming are probably the most urgent issues to be fixed because Antarctica is slowly melting and disapearing into the oceans. This is a major problem because it has a chain of bad events that will eventually follow, for example, flooding of small islands (hawaii), Antarctica will melt and so earth will not have an "air conditioner", increasing heat and water levels.
Species that live in antarctica need to be protected too because there is no other suitable climate or habitat for them to live. temperatures anywhere but Antarctica are too hot for antarctic birds, no snow for penguins, it will change their whole lifestyle.
